Tel Aviv informed the UN that it would continue gathering intelligence in southern Lebanon “as long as the government in Beirut is not in full control of its territory.” Israeli newspaper Haaretz reported on Monday.
According to Haaretz, the Israeli notice was submitted during the three-party meeting, between the Lebanese Army, the UNIFIL and the Israeli Army, that took place last Wednesday at the Force’s headquarters in "Naqoura" area.
It is to be noted that Israel's response came after Lebanon submitted a memorandum to the UN in complaint of the Israeli espionage devices planted in South Lebanon "after July 2006 war"..(They were discovered by the LAF and Hezbollah’s intelligence while Israel exploded a third one, two weeks ago.)
Haaretz reported that upon the UN’s request to Israel to provide clarifications on the issue, Tel Aviv neither denied nor confirmed its responsibility for such activity.
