Born of the Hashem family, in Antelias- Metn, on 9-14-1950 His father, Sabeh Nicolas Hashem is from Jal el Dib. His mother Josephine Darwish Ghoul, is form Metn as well, more precisely from the locality of Nabey.
As son of a mason, he grew up in Jal el Dib in a middle class family.
Married to Catherin Milan (dentist), and father of three: - Ann Laure Siline Nicolas, qualified kindergarten teacher - Nayla Nicolas, student at the Faculty of Medicine of the Holy Spirit University in Kaslik - Nabil Nicolas, computer and telecommunication engineering student in Paris
Professional background:
- Obtained in 1968 the Lebanese Baccalaureate II- Mathematics, earning the congratulation of the examining committee - Obtained his BA in Mathematics from the Faculty of Sciences of the Lebanese University in 1971 - In France, he pursued his education in the Faculty of Medicine in Marseille, and obtained a State doctorate in dental and maxillary surgery. - Holder of a diploma in orthodontics - Worked in hospitals in Marseille as medical assistant - Returned to Lebanon in 1978, and practiced in his own clinic in Jal el Dib until 1990, when the brutal events destroyed his clinic and his house in Rabieh. Thus, he was forced back to France. - Practiced medicine in Paris while preparing an implantology diploma in the Faculty of Medicine in Paris

Political life:
- Joined the Lebanese Youth Front – “Al Wa’ii” Movement in 1969 - Joined the Lebanese Students Gathering in France U.G.E.L.F in 1971. As one of the movement’s leaders, he was then assaulted by the pro Palestinian Arab students who opposed the Lebanese State - Joined the Gathering for Lebanon “Rassemblement pour le Liban” in France, where he militated for the restitution of Lebanon’s Sovereignty, Freedom and Independence, from 1990 till 2005 - Arrested and jailed in Lebanon in May 2004 during municipal elections for being member of the Free Patriotic Movement - Returned to Lebanon with General Aoun in May 7, 2005. The same year, he ran for parliamentary elections and won the Maronite seat in the Metn constituency. - Member of Free Patriotic Movement’s General Committee, and of the “Change and Reform” bloc - Member of the parliamentary committees of: -Information and communication -Women and Children -Environment.
