General Chamel Mouzaya:

- Born in Jaj- Jbeil, on December 20, 1937
- Married to Françoise Butil and father of three: Marie, Pierre, and François
- Pursued primary, complementary, and secondary education at the Marist Brothers’ schools in Betrun, Jbeil, and Junieh, except for his last year in high school which he spent at the Apostles School in Junieh.
- Entered the Military School on 1/2/1950
- Graduated Lieutenant in 1961
- Gradually promoted till the rank of General on 1/1/1988
- Attended many sessions in Lebanon and abroad, among which we mention:

- Was entrusted in many command functions in the following fields:

In education:
      -Commander of the infantry school
      -Course director in the military school
      -Course director in the command school

In military intelligence:
      -Information officer for the Mount Lebanon zone
      -Information officer for the Beirut zone
      -Chief of the Military Security in the army command

In administration:
      -Director of personnel in the army command
      -Director of mobilization and head of the personnel directorate

In battles:
      -Chief of platoon
      -Chief of company
      -Chief of section
      -Troop commander
      -Brigade commander

- Commanded the 5th brigade under General Michel Aoun’s government. Defended the liberty, sovereignty, independence and integrity of Lebanon and the Lebanese, fighting on many fronts:
      -The southern border: Between 1962 and 1873, when the Lebanese artillery’s intensive shelling forced the retreat of the Israeli forces
      -The northern border: In Wadi Khaled and Qalaat Uruba
      -The Palestinian camps battle: in 1973, a battle to which he effectively contributed as Beirut’s Information Officer, before a political decision snatched an imminent victory from the Lebanese army’s hand.
      -The night of April 13, 1973: Confrontation and pursuit of the Israeli commandos who assassinated three Palestinian leaders in Lebanon (Kamal Adwan, Kamal Nasser, and Youssef Najjar)
      -Dahr el Baydar: 1975: Defended Shtora and Dahr El Baydar, preventing the Yarmuk and the Saika brigades from moving towards Mount Lebanon.
      -Suk El Gharb front
      -In 1989 and 1990, his brigade, the 5th, had the honor of participating in the battle for liberation and sovereignty, and in the defense of the free will on the fronts of: Beit Mery, Bekfaya, Baskenta, and Qoleiaat. On October 13, 1990, his brigade went on fighting until 3: 30 pm. It was the last to lay down its arms on that day of infamy, when Lebanon’s free and independent will were confiscated, although temporarily.
      -On October 14, he headed to Dhur Shouyer, with the approval of the then-new army commander, General Emil Lahud, who dispatched 2 Lebanese officers to accompany him. He was on a mission to negotiate with the Syrian troop commander to retrieve the wounded Lebanese soldiers, and get them into hospitals. It turned out to be a trap, and he was sent to the famous Mazzeh prison in Syria where he spent 45 days.
      -Back to Lebanon, he resigned from the army, and flew to France to join his family.
      -Director, while in France, of the Middle East region in a private company for eleven years


- Was exposed to many dangers and wounds during his 33 years of military service, the most severe of which being the ambush set to him by the Joint Forces in Aley, on March 14, 1976, when his companion fell, while he was hit with 18 bullets in the head, the lung, and the arm. Miraculously, he escaped death, despite the gravity of his injuries.
- Wounded with his Jip driver on the road between Bekfaya and Dhur Shouyer, while preparing the positioning of a separation force between the Kataeb party fighters and those of the Syrian Nationalist party.
- Contributed during his stay in France to elaborating the Free Patriotic Movement’s Statute, and was always in contact with General Michel Aoun, when the greatest concern was: “To liberate Lebanon from all foreign occupation forces, to reconstitute authority, to counter corruption, and to establish the rule of law and institutions.”
- Returned to Lebanon definitively in 2004, not to rest, but to carry on the struggle within the Free Patriotic Movement.
- Ran for legislative elections in 2005, for the Maronite seat in Kesrouan-Jbeil, on the Change and Reform list headed by General Michel Aoun. The list scored a historical victory leading all of its members to parliament.
- In politics as in the army, his slogan has always been: “Honor, sacrifice, loyalty, transparence, honesty, enthusiasm, dignity, pride, and devoted patriotism.”
- Endeavors daily to relieve the suffering of the Lebanese, and to assure to them that independence, sovereignty, and freedom, shall be attained without tutorship and with no need for a high commissioner.
- Relentless in his fight against corruption, neglect, and deprivation; and in his sought to grant his region its right in balanced development.
